It's just so obvious though he starts them because he's supposed to not because he really wants the answer.
Guys post to get the answers to the questions not to just fill the space and make conversation.
I can 1000000000% say without a doubt I have NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER been told by one person here at the RX to post a thread about anything or for any reason at all. I have no quota, etc.... This is not at all the case and never has been. The people here are top notch from the top down on how they let you do this job. I can only speak for me but they treat me great. The trust and professionalism is the best here and if it wasnt or there was pressure on me for whatever reasons and this wasnt any fun than beleive me i would be gone tomorrow.
What cracks me up once again your damned if you do and damned if you dont. On one hand I get the "why dont you post as much as before, I miss all the threads you use to start" and I the other I get the one like this.
I am not sure how long you have been arund BH but my story is pretty simple. I started posting here a few years after lurking for almost 3 years before that. I asked a lot of questions about gambling aand alot not about gambling. I proceeded to take all the info I got and write down most of it in a notebook with as much good gambling info I could gather. I then started to scalp and middle with the help of a guy on here (RandyRohm) who spent a lot of time answering a lot of my questions and a few other awesome posters like Fishhead. I developed my own betting style that I felt most comfortable with. Thankfully I have now learned to beat this very difficlt game by just enough to make it worth my time to do at a semi-serious level. The Rx later approached me if I was interested in being a board room member so i could make suggestions and ideas for the good of the site. I would think it has to with who ever makes these decisions felt I who put a lot of time in on the board and they could see/feel the passion in some of my posts about gambling. Eventually a posistion became open for moderater as a few have left the site and I now am a moderator. In that time I was once again never told to do anything more than to help moderate.
The funny thing is the post you are refering to "abolish a sport" has 3+ pages on here with posts. It was a question I heard and liked when listening to sports radio the other day and the guy was talking about how he didnt like horse racing. I started thinking that was pretty cool to talk about and asked the question. I asked the question ONLY because I like to hear what others have to say about any of the threads I start. Now if I wanted to learn something about why they didnt like these sports or for whatever reasons need some info on the question believe me I would have asked a hundred more follow up questions to go with it. I assume it must be solid topic or there wouldnt be 3+ pages of disscussion about it.
I have always been the type that when I am intersted in something I LOVE to read about it. In fact (and this is sad but true) I would say i buy 3-5 books a month to read on anything from auto biographies to books about psychology of trading the stock market to how to train your dog, etc.. In fact my fiancee rips me all the time and says I have a book addiction. The point is when I like something or want to talk about it than I ask questions and read about it. This is why i love the internet so much, it is a world of information at your fingertips. A lot of times I will be driving down the road and think of something and think to myself I want to hear what others have to say about this at the RX and will write the questions down for later.
I am 36 years old and thru all of my 20's and some of my 30's I spent 3+ nites a week out at the bar, drinking, chasing girls, and talking sports. I finally met the best catch anyone could ask for a few years back. I quit going out about 6 months after we started dating. I dont miss the drinking at all and I dont need to chase the girls anymore but the thing I miss the most is a bunch of guys joking, laughing, arguing. and mostly talking about everything from sports top Hulk Hogan's phone conversations. I now get that all here and then some and without out the hangover and the $50+ bar tab a nite. I love this and the fact I get paid to be here is just icing on the cake (hopefully no one at the RX heard this, LOL). I have always loved this site even before I posted here. To me it is the best site on the net. The people here are just like myself, people with mostly the same type intersests. I am not into fighting and immature name calling crap. Just solid info and intersting discsssions. Sharing with others, etc.. I get all that here more than any site BY FAR!! This is what makes it my favorite site.
Anyways sorry about the long post and rambling. Damn I feel like I just finished an essay, LOL. Hope this explains a little better. Have a good day!!!
